Nesting!

We live in a small 3 bedroom house, which I love! It is only about 1300 feet but I cannot imagine trying to clean a bigger house at the moment. It has been a challenge to figure out how to fit five people in three rooms. When Mari came along we put her crib in our room (for about the first year) and let Jake have the larger of the two small bedrooms with a double bed to sleep in and we put all of Mari's toys and clothes in the smaller room that we had been using as an office. Soon it became apparent that Jake and Mari would prefer to sleep in the same room, so we moved the toys to what was Jake's room and the bed and crib to what was then Mari's room. Now, even though we don't know the gender of the baby, we feel it will be easier/safer for the baby in Mari's room (no Lego, cars with wheels that are choking hazards). So, we have set up the crib in our room, moved the double bed back to Jake's old room and slowly worked to make a baby safe toddler bedroom (gender neutral) for Mari and the baby (minus the crib) and give Jake his own big boy room (Mari's old room). Jake's new room is the smallest bedroom, but he was a toddler bed so he still has plenty of room for his train table and many other toys! Both rooms have to be painted (Jake's a slightly darker shade of green and Mari's another coat of the existing brown only with a eggshell finish to make it more durable) and redecorated. Also, as Mari ends up in our bed every morning sometime between 2-3 a.m. and Jake likes to come cuddle if he wakes up in time, we decided to get a new bed for our room (upgrading from Queen to King-sized). So, it all starts with Jake's room! Above, James' painting supplies, the old shade and the new shade below.

Mari helps tuck Jake in his new bed. I must note however, that he still prefers to sleep in the double bed with Mari every night (only spent one night in his new bed), but he does love playing with toys in his own room. I still have a lot of work to do with wall decor, etc. I will try to post an update with pictures when it is all finished!
