Daffodils

I love daffodils. To me they are a symbol of hope and happiness, a reminder that spring and the outdoor fun and beauty warmer weather brings are right around the corner. We had daffodils in the church when we were married on each window sill under the stained glass. These daffodils are the first we have had bloom. I bought them last year to use as table decorations for the brunch at our house after Mari was christened (March 9th, 2008) so they have extra special meaning. The small ones have double and even triple headed blooms. It actually snowed last weekend but Jake and Mari were too sick to enjoy it. I tried carrying Jake to the door so he could look out at it at least, but he was too fussy to comply and instead just buried his head in my chest. This year the promise of spring means a hope that this winter of illness will finally come to and end.
Here is a close-up of the larger ones, yesterday Jake and Mari were well enough that we took them outside for a little while and took a short trip to town (library and Sam's Club). Here Jake is smelling the daffodils. He was amazed at them and keeps telling me about the pretty yellow flowers by the front steps.

We got Jake and Mari some small lawn chairs to put outback on the patio and we tried them out here in the hopes of getting some nice pictures of them with the spring flowers. Unfortunately they are both to fussy to comply and Mari just wanted me to pick her up and hold her, she didn't want to sit in her chair at all.
