I have attached the ultra-sound picture. It was really amazing! James and I got to watch and listen to the heart beat. I did not realize that the heart beat so regular so early on (I don't think it has four chambers, fully developed arteries, veins etc). It is so tiny! The ultra-sound measurements put us at 6 weeks, which amazingly puts the baby at only a month old (the other two weeks track the development of the egg, so you are technically two weeks pregnant at fertilization). I am relieved because that means James and I found out while the baby was only a week into its development and so I havn't exposed it to alcohol, high levels of caffeine, etc. This puts are due date at November 31st, so maybe we will have a Thanksgiving baby! I have been told that once a normal heartbeat is observed, the chances of miscarriage drop considerably. However, we still have 7 1/2 long months to go.
I am supposed to send progress reports out this week, state tests are coming up, I have A LOT of work to complete for my masters program this semester, I have to make sure and send our taxes off by Friday and all without the aid or companionship of a nice cup of coffee or tea! On a good note, I haven't been as exhausted this week as I was the last three. It turns out part of my exhaustion was due to battling a case of strep throat. When they ran my prenatal blood work, I tested positive for strep, and even though I was feeling much better by the time they discovered it (I thought it was allergies) and I never ran a fever that we know of, I am still taking an antibiotic (which doesn't help with the nausea). However, everything seems to be going smoothly, just please continue to keep us in your prayers as we have a long way to go yet!
